Jargon, in Plain Words
- Bilateral coordination is how well your left and right sides, and your limbs, work together.
- Bilateral deficit: when both sides fire together, the total is often less than the two sides added up separately. The fix is unilateral training. A left-right gap above 15% drags performance and raises injury risk.
- Timing (intermuscular timing) is the sense of order, each muscle firing only at the moment it should. Get the order right and the same force produces a smoother movement.
Why It Matters for BBoys
Hand-swaps, windmills, flares: these left-right alternating, whole-body relay moves live or die on timing and left-right coordination, not on how strong any single muscle is. An imbalance means some moves only work on one side.
